[FST] America

I tried my hand at making a fan soundtrack. This was kind inspired by a Prussia FST I really like--"Monster", which was compiled by thecupcakebat. This took a couple days, and then it kind of transformed into a timeline AND a fan soundtrack and there are some cliches here and there, as well as most of the music isn't even by American artists. I still think this fits my image of Alfred though.

[FST] United States of America
Title:  American Pie
Compiled By:  invisimatt
Character:  Alfred F. Jones
Warnings:  This thing’s rated PG-13 for language, a couple bands who sound American but only if you squint. And also a head-canon that suggests I have waaaay too much free time on my hands.
Summary:  I wanted to portray Alfred's opinion alongside his citizens' as well as how both opinions reflect and influence each other, so I hope nobody gets too confused. Just in case, I’ve provided notes for each song. This follows a very basic timeline of American history. These are the highlights of Alfred’s life, the way I see them. Some tracks are serious, while others are not so much. After Track 11, I start getting into the more personal themes, like Alfred’s obsession with heroes and aliens and whatnot, as well as a few pairings I like. Everything after Track 11 is in no particular order, by the way. Enjoy! <3

I just learned THE HARD WAY that LiveJournal has a limit to how large a post can be. This would have had lyrics in it if not for the fact that the pretty formatting and the sheer length of the post nearly broke LJ just now. XD

I find this knowledge mildly amusing.

Anyway, due to that minor inconvenience, I have also added a download link for the lyrics and notes that go with them that are in another download link below the one to download the album itself. Sorry about that! ^^;

Download The Lyrical Guidebook

Please let me know if there's any trouble with the links. All of the songs are in mp3 format, so they should play in most media players.

Ohyeah. I also have a .zip for the FST now. Here ya go:  Linkage!

Thanks so much for reading the guidebook! I was worried nobody would bother... ^^; Also, the reason I got into Protest Songs was because of a student teacher I had in 11th grade U.S. History. Guns 'N Roses have been a favorite band of mine forever, and that teacher played Civil War in class for a unit we did on the Vietnam War and when she caught me singing along it was kinda cool. That song is actually my all-time favorite song in general, so I was super pleased with myself for being able to chuck it into this FST. <3

As for Gulf War's song choice, I actually owe that to my girlfriend. I was having such a hard time choosing something to show for how media was kind of stuck in this crazy strangle-hold what with the political views in the White House. Currently we have a Democratic favor, but back then we had more Republicans in the Senate. I think because of Alfred's government being such a black & white with no gray in the middle sort of outlook, he would constantly have a lot of internal struggles going on.

The Vietnam War is my favorite era of American History because it was the first time we had so many different kinds of media at our fingertips with which to express ourselves here in the States. It was a really powerful time for Alfred because he had a generation gap included in his mind's constant tug-of-war between liberal and conservative views.

I'm also waiting around to see if anybody asks about why I didn't choose a song for the American Revolution. XD There's a reason for it, but I want somebody to notice it before I say anything.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked this FST <3

I think I'll make one for Canada next!
